GM Corvette Assembly Plant News: Learning How To Build The XLR
Employees assigned to the new Cadillac project are learning how to build the luxurious new car, by taking one apart and putting it back together. Cadillac Chassis Supervisor, Trent Jensen said, "17 employees are taking any parts that can be taken out of the car, and then reassembling them. Throughout the process, they look for problems with parts or the build itself."

Beginning this week, the Cadillac team was to receive parts for eight XLRs that will be built from scratch back in the WDC. The body will come in from Detroit already built. As they will during actual production, the engines will arrive fully dressed and the cockpits will come in already assembled. Building the eight Cadillacs is scheduled to take place from next week through Thanksgiving when they will be testing. The process of training new members of the Cadillac group continues in January when more employees transfer over from Corvette and more parts arrive for the build of additional units. (The Vette Gazette, Jane Bowlin)

Kicking it on Route 66
All day long, the announcer barked that the new Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois, was the fastest drag strip in the land. We should have taken the hint that a record would fall when the C5 Tuners got together for their shootout during the Route 66 Corvette Show, which was billed as the "Total Corvette Experience."
